United in Orange
By: Jeremy | June 15th, 2009
I came across this interesting info while cruising through bigsoccer.com earlier today.
Blackpool FC is an English Football team currently competing in The Championship. Some fans of Blackpool reached out to fans of the Dynamo to form an informal partnership between fans, based mostly on the two teams having a similar color scheme.
Apparently, this informal partnership has also involved Dynamo fans sending a care package to Blackpool fans for display at their pub.
…the Dynamo shirt (signed by Paul Dalglish, who played for Blackpool previously) is due to be put on display in the Supporters Bar in the new South Stand once it is built! Piling work has apparently started now on the stand. It should be open for the start of next season (so August 2009).
We have it on good authority that the trees given to Blackpool by Dynamo supporters have been planted on the grounds and are doing well. We are hoping to have some pictures in the near future.
So, if you’re looking for another club to support, it seems that Blackpool FC has made strides to garner your attention.

I remembered that one of your predecessors on the Houston Offside mentioned this a while ago:

This sounds like the relationship between “Sister Cities” which I always thought was very cool. Sister Clubs could be the next thing to get US soccer noticed around the world.

Yeah, I think it’s pretty cool, too. I’m wondering if they ever sent the Dynamo anything (besides Paul Dalglish).
