Offside Houston – Back in Action

By: Jeremy | April 26th, 2010

chabalaNo, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. Yes, this is a new post on the Offside Houston page. What? I’m not entitled to a brief 4 month hiatus every now and then? Don’t get too excited, though. Look what happened to Mr. Chabala. He got so excited that his body shrank. I’m not sure why that would happen, but now he can barely support his melon head on top of those wee shoulders. It’s a sad story, really.

Now, here is where I would typically give you some fascinating opinionated info, or maybe some late breaking news, but you probably know it all by now. You know, the Dynamo lost some key players, some are injured, new stadium approved, blah, blah, blah. I don’t want to show up after a long absence and start spouting off ramblings like I’m the king of blogs or something.

Anyway, here’s a little something I did receive from our good friend at Houston Leones of the Premier Development League.

Hope things are going well. We are getting ready to start our PDL season May 15. Our last preseason game is against the Houston Dynamo Academy on May 9 @ 5 pm at our stadium.

Also, Ljubomir Kocic, a Houston Leones PDL player, got selected to join the Soccer Aces Academy, which is a TV reality show that will be broadcast on GolTV. He is one of seventeen players from around the world that got selected by Zidane to have a shot at doing a preseason with Atletico de Madrid of La Liga. He is representing the U.S.
The tryouts for Soccer Aces in the U.S. were in Houston.

There were 7 finalists, and out of those 7 finalists, 5 were Houston Leones: Ljubomir Kocic, Victor Isidoro, Florent Wamo, Enzo Blanco, and Teo Euceda. I think this shows that the 2010 Houston Leones are committed to excellence. Thank you for your support.

Head Coach

Soccer fans, don’t forget to support the Leones. Come out to Richmond and check out a game. It’s fun and affordable.

On a Dynamo note, I honestly have not watched more than two minutes of any game this season. It’s partly because I don’t feel like dragging out the digital converter box, and partly because my weekend mostly consists of attending numerous youth soccer games and whatever other activities my kids have going on. I like the Dynamo, don’t get me wrong, but I also like my wife and kids. So, send me an email if you’re interested in writing for Offside Houston and I’ll see what I can do to help facilitate a transition.

FOREVER ORANGE

Dallas sucks.
