Daily Dynamo

So the numbers for MLS teams season ticket holders have been posted and heres what it looks like:

1. Toronto FC – 16,641 (+34%)
2. Los Angeles Galaxy – 7,915 (-15%)
3. D.C. United – 5,976 (+27%)
4. Real Salt Lake – 4,632 (+5%)
5. Houston Dynamo – 4,116 (+87%)
6. New England Revolution – 4,001 (+14%)
7. San Jose Earthquakes – 3,822
8. Columbus Crew – 3,227 (+1%)
9. New York Red Bulls – 3,170 (+33)
10. FC Dallas – 3,002 (-4%)
11. Colorado Rapids – 2,968 (+59%)
12. Chicago Fire – 2,759 (+8%)
13. Kansas City Wizards – 1,539 (+232%)
14. Chivas USA – 837 (-2%)

The Dynamo came in 5th with 4,116, that is really not bad at all, seeing as the team has just recently moved in. What I’m looking at is Chivas USA’s numbers…..WOW 837???? You couldn’t even push the 1,000 mark? For being the sister club of one of the most storied and passionately supported clubs in the world and they couldn’t get a measly 1,000 season ticket holders…sad.

So it was announced today that we have picked up RSL reject Kyle Brown the 24 year old scored 2 goals in 8 games for RSL last year which doesn’t seem like much but if you look at his college record is something to be looked at 38 goals in 77 college games with 28 assists…wow, not to shabby. What do you think bringing in this guy will do to the strikers we currently have I figured we had all we needed but obviously Dominic wanted him for something….only time will tell with this kid!

Slow news day today, I’m sorry I didn’t post my Champions Cup preview which I will post up later this afternoon its been couple of busy days here at work sorry for the slow updates!

Chivas USA has one big problem for acceptance – the fact their name is Chivas USA and not Chivas LA. The local flavor is what makes people attract to you (this coming from the New york Red Bulls who play in Jersey)

Look at Toronto, more than 16k. Forget Philly, put the next franchise in Canada.

We’re number 7! Not bad for a team that hasn’t played a MLS game in over 2 years.

Chivas… sniff. I hope they don’t renew their lease on the HDC and move elsewhere. Gotta get out of the Gal’s shadow stat.

Everyone up except the Gals, Dallas & Chivas. I can understand a natural Beckham slump for the gals but Dallas and Chivas- what gives?

The KC staff should be congratulated for a 232% increase-that’s pretty amazing, although they were pretty low to begin with an might start having a scarcity effect at the temp place.

And Utahans(???) really are masochists. THAT TEAM is 4th in the league in season tickets- and managed to attract more this year than last year. Somewhere earth logic has been suspended.

When looking at Chivas USA #s keep in mind one thing. Those numbers may be actually double or more than what they really are.

Anybody that buys the Galaxy’s most expensive ticket package [the one that includes access to the stadium club, in-seat concessions, etc. etc. etc.] automatically gets tickets to other Home Depot Center events. This includes Chivas USA games.

    Source:
    http://homedepotcenter.com/luxury_intro.php

2% drop = 17 season ticket holders lost for Chivas USA, so even if as few as 5% of the Galaxy’s season ticket sales (427 tickets) come from that section of the stadium that would account for 50% of Chivas USA’s total season ticket sales.

A corner section of the stadium seats 350 people, so I’m guessing a full section = approx. 400, and the Luxury Suite Area is composed of 3 sections [110,111,112] — so all you need is 1/3 of those seats to belong to Galaxy Season Ticket Holders.

So the question then is: Just how badly is Chivas USA REALLY doing in terms of attendance?

Chivas’ numbers aren’t shocking. They are NOT our sister team, they are our rival team and they’ve got no supporters. I’m surprised they had 800 season ticket holders. They’ll be gone as soon as their lease is up, and my stadium will be clean again
