FOREVER ORANGE
UPDATED, FROM CHRON.COM:
In a move that seemed to come from out of the blue, the Dynamo traded forward Kei Kamara to the Kansas City Wizards for forward Abe Thompson and allocation money.
Coach Dominic Kinnear confirmed the trade after practice Tuesday, just hours before the team was to travel to Pachuca, Mexico, ahead of Wednesday’s CONCACAF Champions League group match.
Tuesday was the last day for MLS teams to make player moves as rosters freeze.
Kamara, 25, was not allowed to practice ahead of the transaction, both the player and coach confirmed. The 6-3 forward was acquired from San Jose in July 2008 via trade and quickly found a regular spot in the starting lineup. Kamara has five goals and one assist in 22 MLS appearances (20 starts) this season.
Thompson, 27, and a six-year veteran of MLS, comes to the Dynamo after seeing limited minutes in Kansas City during the past two seasons. He is scoreless in eight appearances and only one start this season.
Kinnear said the trade was driven by financial reasons. As a Generation Adidas player, Kamara’s guaranteed compensation of about $65,000 doesn’t count against the team’s salary cap.
But his contract is up at the end of the year, and word from the front office is that player and team weren’t close to agreeing on a new deal. The Dynamo decided to make a move and get something for Kamara while they could. There’s another reason. Kamara and Kinnear have been at odds for the past month, and the coach may have felt the move was necessary to protect the integrity of the team chemistry.
The recent acquisition of Mexican striker Luis Angel Landin and the return from injury of Cam Weaver opened the door to get it done.Kinnear declined to discuss the nature of his working relationship with Kamara.
Kamara was kept from workouts ahead of Sunday’s loss at Columbus, which he also missed. Kinnear said at the time the forward was nursing a quadriceps strain. But Kamara denied being hurt Monday.

I will tell you exactly why it happened. It’s because Kinnear is racist. All the players know it yet they will never admit because they don’t want to be snitches. But he is, that’s why he got rid of Julius, Ade and now Kei. It wouldn’t shock me if Oduro goes next.
I hope the truth comes out and Kinnear is exposed for the racist that he is!Posted from

Lala, I’m not trying to discredit your opinion, but weren’t they black when they were signed? It’s not like they changed at some point. But maybe you’re right. Although I think Abe Thompson is black, too.

Kei seems to be getting a raw deal here. It looked to me that Kei was really fitting in here and just starting to show promise. What good will this ultimately do the team? And Abe Thompson…..really?!
It feels to me that our DP was shoved down Dom’s throat, and not really a choice of his and now we have another interuuption in the locker room.I knew that there would be some casualties to signing a DP, but it doesn’t make it any easier. I can’t believe knowing our congested schedule that Dom would choose a player that couldn’t help us in the CCL – that’s just not been his style, up till now.
I hope Landin can bring it, because all I’ve seen so far is flopping and a general look of confusion.
Any way you look at this trade, the October 4th match just got REAL interesting.FOREVER ORANGE {even when they break my heart
}I haven’t been this upset since the DeRo trade, but at least DeRo was going home.
P.S. Coach Dom is NOT racist…that’s just silly.

When I first heard that he was being traded but still didn’t know to where or for who, I was thing we would definitely get some defensive help in return. Whether it was midfield or backfield, I felt that is the direction to go. But another forward? Maybe there’s another deadline move in the works. This one doesn’t add up.

Well to Kym, you wouldn’t know but I say this because I am there and see how Dom is, you wouldn’t know because it is done behind the scenes.
And no Abe thompson is not blackPosted from

Lala, now I’m intrigued. What kind of behind-the-scenes access do you have? And I’m not referring to the racism comment. I ask because it could be beneficial to the blog if I have a reader with behind-the-scenes access.

Lala,
Abe Thompson looks pretty black in his team photo.
Am I confused, or are you? It really doesn’t matter to me because all my players are ORANGE.How can a player who hasn’t scored since 07/04/08 be of any service to this team?
And I am there…for EVERY home game since day 1 and all of the games in Dallas as well. I’ve also traveled to see the team play in KC and Chicago, and have had many conversations with Coach Dom. You will never convince me that this move was motivated by race…it’s still just silly.
What really matters is that thisa team doesn’t need any more distractions before taking on Pachuca. The timing sucks!

I really think this was mostly about money. Abe probably won’t play, much like Julius James after receiving him for DeRo.

It’s simple (kinda). With the signing of Landin and the emergence of Weaver, Kei has become our #3 or #4 forward. Kei is more of a #2 forward in skill and salary. He is no longer a GA player so his salary will count next season and i think he will take an international spot. All those things are too costly for your #4. So traded a #2 forward for a #4 forward and cash because we needed a #4 not a #2. Sounds dumb, “we have too many good players”, but that’s MLS and its roster restrictions.

Kym,
Are you at the practices every morning? Do you travel with the team? I don’t think so. I do and I know what I see. I woouldn’t come out and say Coach Dom is racist if he wasn’t, I’m not that kind of person.
As for Abe Thompson I have known hin for five years now and I know he looks black but he isn’t.
To Jeremy, I know I would love to chat with you and give you an the “raw deal” from an insider but I rather not have my identity revealed for the protection of a player on the team who is family.Posted from

Lala, its good to know that you’re “not that kind of person.” Sure, I believe you; I’ll take your word for it.
It’s one thing to be a racist, it’s another to be racist and hurt your team and your job. I don’t judge people on hearsay, but I do know that Coach Dom isnt dumb enough to let ‘racism’ get in the way of an MLS cup. My guess is that if Kei was better than Ching, Landin, or Weaver he wouldnt have been subjected to this ‘racism’.
