Best Team in MLS History, Racism at Robertson and more…

By: Daryl | October 15th, 2008

There I said it and I believe it…we are watching the best team in MLS history make a historic run for their 3rd MLS Cup.

Glenn Davis says it a little better than I do but nonetheless we are, whether you like it or not.

The only other team to even get close to this feat was D.C. United the most storied club in all of MLS, but all that is about to change. The story is one out of a fairytale it seems, what other team is out there that has only been in existence for 3-4 years, picked up and moved from their hometown to a completely different state, caught on like wildfire and are now behind the Galaxy in attendance numbers(17,000 - 20,000), and won two MLS cups back to back. This isn’t some 1 year fever ladies and gentlemen we are the real fucking deal and you should be scared. Typing this brings joy to my heart because I’m so proud of this team and organization because they really actually care about the fans. Why do you think we have been so successful? Of course the team was already pretty successful in San Jose, but ask anyone who moves how hard it is to adjust to your new surroundings. The fans that show up every game…rain or shine is what drives this team and you can tell that each and every player appreciates them so much. We cheer when we win and we cheer when we lose, not once have I ever heard a boo towards a Dynamo player, ever. And even when we are losing I still hear the beating of the drums from El Batallón and the Texan Army screaming their heads off for their favorite team making sure they know that every move they make, we support.

Hats off to this team who really came back from a slow start this season and are now primed for their history making run, I’m proud to say I am “Forever Orange”.

So will the sky be Dynamo Orange again after we win this one? I for one think so.

Anyways, I know that was pretty long and if your still with me..heres news from the past week or so:

- The Dynamo will use their next 3 home games to help with Hurricane Relief Efforts

- I’ve been ripping into him all year long, but I think I’m starting to come around, here is Bernardo Fallas with an in depth look into the year Bobby Boswell has had.

- Racism rears its ugly head at Robertson, I for one do not think that this “fan” was a Dynamo fan at all, if he were he would see that our biggest supporter group is prominently Hispanic. You sir are a fucking idiot and a disgrace, and if our paths ever meet you’ll be damn sure to get a Texan whooping.

Tonight’s game against San Jose will be a sitter pretty much, expect a few youngins in the line up but nothing that will cause a complete blow out. With our play-off spot already sealed these next two games are more like a warm-up if anything.

y’all are a million times better than DC right now, I’ll give you that–but DC is the best team in MLS history, take it or leave it, it’ll be true. The MLS Cup, playoffs, etc. might be winning in the eyes of most Americans but the last time I checked, in soccer, the best season record wins. DC’s got the most decorations, records, etc. for sure but Houston is definitely better at the moment.

so feel free to celebrate your current awesomeness. just don’t try and pretend that you are the best club in MLS history, because you just aren’t.

Lol, I’m not pretending anything ajani, its my own personal opinion take it or leave it.

That being said….the Dynamo will be the best team in MLS if the 3 peat is completed something that your D.C. United could not do agaisnt the Chicago Fire in that ill fated MLS Cup final.

Oh and for the record….D.C. United won all those accolades in their early years of being in the league correct me if I’m wrong but that was when MLS was still in the Mickey Mouse age, Come into the 21st century buddy where the play is tougher and the season is longer and WE ARE the best team in MLS history.

Just because you won a Pub competition this year (U.S. Open Cup) doesn’t give you bragging rights, sorry. It just doesn’t.

Don’t get me wrong though I have a strong respect for D.C. United and as I stated they are the most storied club in MLS History.

lol I know the Open Cup doesn’t get any bragging rights =) that’s a given. I know we suck this year, you don’t have to tell me that, I’ve had to watch us go down in flames.

I’ll back off because this is the Dynamo blog and frankly considering how this season is going things might change soon…but as of RIGHT NOW, DC is the best club in MLS history (whether that history was ‘mickey mouse age’ or not), and that’s not a matter of opinion, it’s fact…

and by the way, if you get a 3peat that’s awesome and all, bravo to any MLS success, honestly. but is a league tournament victory really equal to a league season record 1st place win? really?

that’s not a houston vs dc thing that’s just something I am generally annoyed with in MLS. it makes no sense to me. for example does anyone really value the copa del rey or the FA cup, etc. over 1st place in la liga or the EPL?

    maybe that’s just me…

Heh, sorry ajani I was a little harsh in that second comment, more less frustrated with the less than stellar coverage its not getting here in Houston, sure the large fan base recognize’s that its history but outside of that the coverage has been meager.

Daryl, great to have you back, and great job on this write up. The San Houston Dynamoquakes are definitely the best franchise historically in MLS for sure.

I will agree with Dave– Dynamoquakes are king.

Just not the Dynamo. Just not the Quakes.

Lets look at the facts: DCU has won 12 major domestic and international trophies.

    How many has Houston won?
