All Stars, Texans, Aeros, & Death
By: Jeremy | September 9th, 2009
Newsworthy items have been sparse as the Dynamo take a brief but well-deserved hiatus. There was a nice announcement that Houston’s Reliant Stadium will host the 2010 MLS All Star game. This marks the official start to the rumors of which European powerhouse will grace us with their royal presence.
In other soccer news, a Czech guy scored an own goal then collapsed and died. That’s horrible. I will refrain from all flop accusations and ask that you do the same. I wish the family well and hope that you do, too.
In other Houston sports news, the Texans play the New York Jets this Sunday. I’m sure this is the game everyone will focus on, right? Please don’t tell me I have Cowboys fans reading Offside Houston. That reminds me, I need to tweak my fantasy football lineups before the games begin. Tomorrow, 7:30, Titans and Steelers. Finally something to watch that won’t end up in a scoreless tie. Yes, the Astros are playing but scoring is a rarity with them, too.
And the Aeros season kicks off (slaps off?) on October 2nd. I’m excited about hockey this year and you should be, too. It’s a niche sport in these parts, much like soccer in the United States. But since you are here you must be of niche-sport-observer-type. If you haven’t given hockey a chance I suggest you do so. The Aeros will host a preseason game versus San Antonio on 9/26 at the Sugar Land Ice Complex. That’s a good opportunity for you to wet your whistle without all of the downtown hassle. Tickets are $10.
There was something else I was going to mention but it escapes me at the moment. That’s too bad. I’m sure it was unfathomably interesting.
That’s it. Peace out and FOREVER ORANGE.
Dallas sucks.
