Recent years have seen this game take much criticism but this year it was truly the right venue..the right players..the right game.

The level of play itself was pretty decent with both teams putting on a solid attacking display (Even though it was against West Ham!!). Of course Blanco stole the show showing the world bending it like Blanco is just as good as bending it like Beckham. Anyways at some point in the 60ish minute our Canada homeboys came on to a awesome reception from the home town fans and D-Ro really showed love for his country by not only winning the game but showing just how much he can do in 25 minutes, winning a penalty and all around showing his great attacking threat. I had a great time watching this game it’s to bad this is its last year, for everything All-Star go here.

In other recent news, we have acquired San Jose forward Kei Kamara, San Jose gets the 2009 First round draft pick and some allocation money, The article states Kamara has scored 7 goals in 3 SEASONS!!?!?!? WTF..but he did score against us earlier in the season soooo…

Apparently the Dom sees something in him so I’ll go with that.

Waibel will make kickers in the NFL cry for their mommy’s, This story is why Craig Waibel is better than you, the other day he met up with Texan’s kicker Kris Brown for a few “kicks for tix” kicks which would mean for each successful point Waibel sends 3 kids from the local hospital to tomorrow nights game, well guess what, he made 10 out of 14, sending all 30 kids to a free night at Robertson, Afterwards this seemed like the general feeling:

While 30 children will have the opportunity to see Tuesday’s Dynamo game thanks to Waibel and Brown, the tandem is not done yet. Brown said he intends to visit a Dynamo practice when his schedule allows and take penalty kicks against goalkeeper Pat Onstad.

And finally tonight is the Superliga Semi-final vs. Pachuca, we go into this with revenge on the mind, I think this time we’ll finally do this team over nothing real concrete to say but WE MUST WIN!!!! And that I hope to see you at the game!

Besides that the goals came from the usual suspects Brian Ching getting a team high 7th goal late in the 2nd half and…Mr. Mullen opening the scoring grabbing his first goal of the season (Thank god!!!). It now seems after two back to back wins against United the boys deserve a break and they will not play until next Tuesday against Pachuca again.

I just ran across this but apparently the delay in the 54th minute was a 2 HOUR DELAY??!?!?! holy crap.. correct me if I’m reading this wrong please:

The Houston Dynamo endured a power outage, rain, lightning, another power outage, even more rain and a 2-hour, 54-minute delay before finally putting away an undermanned D.C. United 2-0 at RFK Stadium.

Wow…amazing, we’ll the weekend is about to begin and I’m off to have a relaxing one!

So lets get down to it..sha’ll we?

During the time gone I have attended both Superliga matches with the utter and peer joy of seeing us demolish Atlante F.C. to the hugely disappointing and dirty loss to Chivas. One quick note on the Chivas game. First of all you Chiva’s fans are disgraceful and I hope to never see the likes of you in our stadium again…from the seat stealing to the verbal abuse given when I clearly respected your team is just not acceptable. Plus coming into Robertson and acting like the Dynamo are a nothing team is out-right disrespectful oh boy do I wish we would have scored so I could have turned around and yelled out something in Spanish to the very rude and obvious seat jacker’s behind me.

Anyways the game was a dirty dirty match with 3 Chivas players leaving the game on a stretcher which was I’m sure pretty embarrassing especially to the player who got a bloody nose and had to leave on a stretcher…. pathetic.

We lost unfortunately 0-1, I left the game feeling pretty good because we played extremely well considering we were missing a few key players due to suspension and injury. Then we traveled to DC a game which I didn’t get to watch but was over-joyed to see we edged out United 3-1 to advance to the semi’s of the tournament. The goals…courtesy of Holden, Rico, and former United star Bobby Boswell (That one has to hurt..United fans.) pretty much sealed the deal with reports suggesting the Houston were the stronger more dominate side throughout the match.

So as it stands we sit 5th in the Western Conference and we now have a spot in the semi’s thanks the to 3-1 score line at RFK. We are dangerously close to the cellar but a win will catapult us up a few places so no need for drastic measures just yet.

Anyways enough about game news there are a few things I haven’t touched on….

-You know that guy Nate? you may have heard of him came to Houston from LA and scored a boat load of goals…well he is back with the Dyanmo..I for one am very happy with this.

-The 2 super Canadians, D-Ro and Onstad were named as reserves in the MLS-All Star game.

-And finally, our very own Stuart Holden and Patrick Ianni were named the Peter Nowak’s U.S. Olympic team roster!!!!

Well our boys in Orange ended up with a scoreless draw against RSL on Thursday with the 90 degrees kick-off temperature providing the only heat in this highly contested match, while it looks like the Dynamo were shooting for a draw RSL’s Kyle Beckerman had the best chance to put the game away but his touch was just not there.

With a win we could have taken the Western C. top spot, putting to bed the fears that I’ve been writing about all season thus far. Same for RSL with a win they could have claimed 1st, but now they sit third and we sit 4th behind Chivas and the LA girls respectively.

Now the Orange takes a quick break from MLS play to take part in Super Liga which I thought was a highly successful tournament last year with very good games. Up first is Atlante FC, this storied club took a bit of a nose-dive in the turn of the 21st century and have looked to rebound back and have arrived back on the scene we face them Saturday the 12th at Robertson Stadium.

Sorry there’s not much to write as there have been a lot of company changes here in the past week which makes me have an increased workload, But I’ll make sure to get a full match preview of the upcoming Superliga games sometime later this week.

Until then….

Seeing as we still can’t finish the glorious chances we have in front of goal we were stuck with a mediocre draw to sit back on in wonder.

A few things,

The Fans - You wouldn’t believe only 16,900 showed up with all the noise that was made, the Texian Army looking stronger than ever really got into and showed up their much louder counter parts El Bation. And Dallas’s away fans were pretty loud as well I really like where I sit at Robertson but walking past the away tunnel to try and get out is horrendous, thanks dallas jack-offs for once again throwing glow sticks at us!

Brian Ching - I want to take back what I said about him earlier in the season because he does still have it and proved to me once again why I love him so, its like a love-hate relationship.

Pat Onstad - The “Holy Goalie” as you will showed just how much he cares about the team, when Cooper scored I’ve never seen him so mad in his Dynamo career he really tore into his defenders hardcore because they completely left him out to dry, here’s looking at you Bobby! And the replay of him really tearing into them was priceless.

All in all I’m pretty happy with the draw, I know some of you will say we should have won but I’ll be the first to admit that Dallas actually has quite the cast of fantastic players, and I’m still not sure why Cooooooooper has no MSNT call up.

As it stands El Capitan will go to Dallas winning the series 4-2.

D-Ro - Come on buddy we need you to link up with chingy tonight to put on a spectacular show in front of a wild crowd, you know its gonna be carazy!

Stuart Holden - You hit the post against Colorado but now can you put in the net against Dallas? Only tonight will tell but boy you need goal.

Kenny Cooper - The man is on somewhat of a hot streak at the current moment, will mistake duo Bobby Boswell and Patrick Ianni be able to hold him, or will Onstad have to save the day once again.

Feel free to drop me an email if your headed to the game.

Unfortunately I didn’t realize Onstad was starting but it didn’t matter much anyways as both goalkeepers were rarely tested until the closing stages of the game. Apparently the only exciting part about this game was the 68th minute power outage causing the game to stop for about 18 minutes, oh and that goal that was disallowed on Ching, I only saw a few replays of it but I don’t think he handled it at all, of course I would say that as Ching is my boy in orange.

Overall it was a scrappy affair with really nothing to concrete to report on, but what we can do is take a look at the Rapids Offside and point and laugh because they 0.410 win percentage. Hey I didn’t say it…he did!

Now we can turn our full attention to this Thursday’s game against the closest thing we have to a rival…the candystrippers from the north…FC Dallas. They make the journey to Robertson on Thursday which will be televised on ESPN2 PRIMETIME BABY!!!!!!! ( sorry ) Anyways I’ll be back Wen. with a full match preview!

United game has been rescheduled to be played on July 22 at RFK.

We go into this game coming off a nice long break from a crappy loss to the New England Revo’s for the 2nd time in a row this year. The Orange army travels to Dick’s Sporting Good’s park to face a Rapids team that failed to win in their last 2 road matches, but have won 3 of their last 4 games at Dick’s.

We have good news and bad news with word that Brian Ching will be back in the starting line up coming off a hat-trick in the Barbados 8-0 thumping, but our reliable Canadians De-Ro and Onstad are still serving international duty for their game against St. Vincent & Grenadines. Wade Barett is listed as probable assuming he is still struggling with that pesky adductor strain he’s been dealing with, if anything we need our captain fit and back in the line up we dearly miss him.

Look for both teams to come out the gate screaming as Ching is going to have all the confidence in the world to finish his chances and the Rapids will be looking to use that home field advantage to snatch a win, the Rapids on the other hand are dealing with Mike Petke, Justin Hughes, Jose Burciaga, Nico Colaluca, and Pablo Mastroeni all listed as out or questionable for tonight’s match, and of course Bouna Coundoul (ITS BOODA TIME!!!) is with Senegal preparing for their WCQ against Liberia.

Last year the Dynamo took the season series winning both the home and away matches before the Rapids took the season finale victory, and all I have to do is look at our very first game as the Dynamo to make me smile, recording a 5-2 victory with 4 goals coming from Brian Ching (Aww the good ol days!).

Prediction : Dynamo 2 - 1 Rapids
